  • Château La Fleur-Pétrus 2021 has been released at £1,820 per 12×75.
  • Neal Martin gave a provisional barrel range of 90-92 points.
  • The 2019 and 2017 vintages look good value.

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château La Fleur-Pétrus 2021 has been released at £1,820 per case (12×75), down 6.7% on the 2020’s opening price.

The 2019 and 2017 vintages continue to offer better value in relation to today’s release. However, Neal Martin’s initial score comes with a question mark and the wine may look better value if he changes his score once it has been bottled. See more pricing analysis below.

Critics’ scores

Writing for Vinous, Neal Martin’s initial barrel score was just 90-92 points. However, his range came with a question mark attached. He found that the samples from the two bottles he tried were ‘difficult to judge’ and his final verdict would be decided when the wine was in-bottle.

Antonio Galloni was more enthusiastic, rating it 93-95 points and calling it ‘classic Pomerol as far as I’m concerned’.

William Kelley (Wine Advocate) awarded it 91-94 points and Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) 91-93+ points.

Fair Value analysis

Buyers looking for value might consider the 2019 vintage which has Martin’s highest score for the estate since 2005 – 97-points. It is available at £1,698 per 12×75, a 6.7% discount to today’s release.

The 2017 and 2014 vintages likewise look good value among older wines, both have scores of 94-points and are on the market for just over £1,500 per doze each.
