Château d’Yquem is releasing its newest vintage, the 2019, towards the end of next month. This is part of a new strategy recently unveiled by the brand.

Dubbed ‘a new dawn’, the programme is designed to raise the profile of the estate among collectors worldwide.

Ahead of its release on 22nd March, the 2019 has been presented to many critics and publications. In his recent in-bottle report on the 2019 Bordeaux vintage, Neal Martin (Vinous) rated it 98-points. He said it was ‘well-balanced’, ‘very harmonious’ and with aromas of ‘beguiling purity’.

It is his best score for Yquem since the 100-points he gave the ‘magnificent’ 2001 in September last year.

Meanwhile, the 2009, 2014 and 2017 are all rated 97-points. The 2009 has a current Market Price of £3,509 (12×75). From a famous Bordeaux vintage and previously rated 100-points by Martin (in 2014), its price nonetheless leaves the 2017 and 2014 (both under £3,000) offering relative value.

The 2014 is currently being offered for £1,316 per six and was described by Martin as a ‘finely tuned and satisfying Sauternes with style and grace’.
