Two Mouton Rothschild vintages traded at all-time highs this week

  • Bordeaux’s share climbed above 30% for the first time since mid-December, thanks to activity for its 2012 and 2010 vintages.
  • Château Mouton Rothschild 2012 and 2014 set new trading highs this week.

Regional share this week

Having sat below 30% since mid-December, Bordeaux’s share of trade rose from 29.0% to 33.1% this week. Its 2012 and 2010 vintages led trade by both value and volume. As the last tiger vintage, the 2010 in particular has seen buying spikes ahead of Chinese New Year. Year-to-date, it has also been the most traded Bordeaux vintage in Asia.

Champagne, the Rhône, Tuscany and Piedmont all improved their weekly share of trade. While the ‘others’ category also made gains, fuelled by the UK (3.0%), Australia (1.2%), Germany (0.7%) and Spain (0.7%).

This week’s most traded

Wines from Bordeaux filled the top five spots this week, and two Château Mouton Rothschild vintages – 2012 and 2014 – set all-time trading highs.

The 2012 last traded 65.0% above its release price, while the 2014 was up 87.6%.
