  • Steady tempo to release of smaller estates.
  • Dry whites from Guiraud and Suduiraut expected soon.
  • No major shift in pricing at this level.

The release of Château Beaumont and Tour Saint Christophe on Tuesday this week kicked off this year’s en primeur campaign, and there has been a steady flow of releases since then.

This week and next will remain the warm-up act to the release of classed growths towards the end of the month.

Among the releases so far this week have been Bellefont-Belcier and Laroze from Saint-Emilion, Chantegrive in Graves, Fourcas Dupré in Listrac-Médoc, Héritage de Chasse-Spleen in Haut-Médoc and d’Arsac in Margaux.

The first dry whites from Sauternes, Le G de Guiraud and Blanc Sec de Suduiraut (45 6x75cl) are expected soon in the UK as well.

The pricing of Bordeaux at this level does not tend to have an impact on the pricing of the region’s upper echelon, but releases so far have been either the same or only marginally above these estates’ 2019 offers.

Price increases are expected this year but, as was pointed out in our recent En Primeur Report, the closer châteaux stick to last year’s pricing, the more successful this campaign is likely to be.
