Château Beaumont Haut-Médoc 2020 released this morning at €8.30 per bottle ex-négociant, a 3.8% increase on the 2019 opening price of €8.00. The wine has already found demand on the market.

With that small rise in price, buyers of the 2020 might also expect a higher critic score.

James Suckling awarded Château Beaumont 2020 an initial score of 92-93, an increase from the 2019 (90-91) and his highest ever barrel range for the wine.

The 2020 offer is cheaper than the releases of 2018 (€8.80), 2016 (€8.80), and 2015 (€8.40), but identical to the 2017 (€8.30) and slightly more expensive than the 2014 (€7.70).

Is this a sign of things to come?

Critics have this vintage down as the third in a trifecta of years, alongside the 2018 and 2019.

Critical coverage has been released from Jancis Robinson, Jean-Marc Quarin, and James Suckling, with many of the remaining critics set to release their reports and scores in the coming weeks.
