Bordeaux remains the most Bid-for region on Liv-ex with over £11m in LIVE Bids, 55% of total Bid exposure.
White Bordeaux makes up 3% of the region’s Bids. Although relatively small, an increasing number of those Bids are moving from the once dominant Sauternes region to the dry white wines of predominantly red producing estates. Chateau Haut Brion Blanc, for example, is the second most traded white Bordeaux wine by value year-to-date. The dry white wines of Smith Haut Lafite and Pape Clement follow closely behind, edging out multiple Sauternes producers.
The Bordeaux 500 posted its fourth positive month out the past five months. In the first eight months of the year it has outperformed the Liv-ex 100, Liv-ex 1000, FTSE100, DAX, and Crude Oil while just trailing the S&P500, without any of the volatility.
The 2019 EP campaign continues to garner interest from the market, there are currently over £500k of LIVE Bids for the newest releases. 2018, while somewhat out of the spotlight, still has over £200k of LIVE Bids. 2016 remains the most Bid-for region, with 2015, 2017, and 2014, in that order, not far behind.
