Conseillante 2019 released

Conseillante 2019 has been released at €120 per bottle ex-negociant, down 25.9% on the 2018 opening price of €162. It is being offered by the trade at £1,512 per 12×75, a decrease of 25.1% in sterling terms on the 2018 release of £2,019 per case.

Today’s release was one of Jeff Leve’s candidates for perfection with a score of 98-100 points. According to Leve, “if you are seeking a deal closer, this Dionysian wine is the right choice! This is in serious contention for one of the wines of the vintage.”

For James Suckling (97-98), this is “a very fine, ethereal wine, offering blueberries, white truffles and violets […] Really polished to the finest grain. Extremely long”. Jean-Marc Quarin also awarded the 2019 Conseillante a barrel range of 97-98.

Prices for Conseillante show 70% correlation to ‘Benchmark Critic’ scores. Based on today’s release, a score of 96 would make the wine sit on the ‘Fair Value’ line. Any higher, and the wine would be good value. The critical praise so far might thus tempt buyers to consider the 2019.

Other vintages that look attractive include the 2012 (RP 96), available at £986 per case.
