Paul Jaboulet Aine, Hermitage Chapelle 2018

Paul Jaboulet Aine Hermitage Chapelle 2018 was released in the UK today at £1,500 per 12×75, up 8% on last year’s release.

The Wine Advocate’s Joe Czerwinski found potential perfection in the wine, awarding it 98-100 points. In his tasting note, he described it as “full-bodied, rich and powerful yet also airy, somehow carrying intense plum and black olive flavors without any sense of heaviness or excess weight”.

Jeb Dunnuck also reviewed today’s release, scoring it 97-99 points. He claimed that “the 2018 is a beautifully pure, balanced, massively endowed La Chapelle that will need a decade of cellaring and keep for 3-4 decades with no problems”.

At this price point, the 2018 stands above all other recent vintages available in the market, bar the 2015. However, it also carries the highest Wine Advocate score, which for fans, might well justify the premium.
