Burgundy and the USA made gains this week to account for 21.5% and 4.5% of total trade by value respectively. Champagne, on the other hand, pulled back to 10% having reached a record high last week of 21.2%.
The Liv-ex 50 closed the week on 347.63, up 0.1% on last week.
Margaux 2007 was the most active wine this week. The First Growth last traded at £3,585 per 12×75, up 46% on its release price (£2,450).
Super Tuscan Masseto 2015 also made it into the top five. Back in September, Monica Larner (Wine Advocate) scored the wine 100 points. In her tasting note she said it was “absolutely teeming with sensorial spirit that is transmitted through the bounty of the bouquet and the solid tannins of the mouthfeel”.
Two high-value Burgundy wines also featured, as did Taittinger Comtes Champagne Rose 2007. The Champagne was released in June.
