By May 7, 2019Bordeaux 2018

Malescot St Exupery 2018 has been released at €40.80 per bottle ex-negociant, up 17% on the 2017 (€34.80). It is being offered by the trade at £492 per 12×75, up 14.4% on the 2017 release of £430 per case.

Critics have praised this year’s Malescot St Exupery. Antonio Galloni (Vinous) awarded the wine 93-96 points and described it as “Fabulous. Powerful and explosive in the glass”. Lia Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate) said it was “just lovely”, scoring it 94 points.

James Suckling awarded a higher 97-98 points and said it was a “big wine for this producer”.

Prices for Malescot St Exupery are 74% correlated to our ‘Benchmark critic’ score. Based on today’s release of £492 per 12×75, the wine is coming to market below the line implied by our ‘fair value’ methodology. Followers of James Suckling will indeed find something to be excited about.

The 2016 vintage may also look tempting. It is available at a slight discount to today’s release and was awarded 95 points by Neal Martin back in January.
