The Liv-ex 1000 index – the broadest measure of the market – gained 0.8% in August to close on 350.7. This is the new record high for the index, which has risen 6.2% year-to-date.

Within the Liv-ex 1000, the Italy 100 index fell by 2%, returning to its previous position as this year’s worst performer. The Rest of the World 50, which had a sluggish July, rose by 1.5%, thus outperforming Burgundy and Champagne this month. This news coincides with the release of Masseto 2015 today. The Burgundy 150 remains the best-performing index of the year, followed by Bordeaux Legends 50.

As the chart above shows, the Burgundy 150 has witnessed a steady rise and developed a large gap over all other indices, which continues to widen.
