By May 3, 2018Bordeaux 2017

Langoa Barton 2017 has been released at €31.00 per bottle ex-negociant, down 15% on the 2016’s opening price of €36.60. It is being offered by UK merchants for £390 per 12×75, down 7% in sterling terms on the 2016 release of £420 per case.

Overall, critics have been impressed with this year’s Langoa Barton. Neal Martin (90-92), writing for Vinous, commented that “it is exactly what I expected, which is a good thing given the track record of this Saint-Julien”. James Suckling (93-94) commented that it was “serious for the vintage”, while James Molesworth agreed that it is “textbook St.-Julien” and awarded a barrel range of 90-93.

Buyers looking for value might consider the 2006 vintage. Neal Martin scored the wine 91 points when writing for the Wine Advocate, adding that “there is joie-de-vivre here”. The wine contains several years in bottle and is currently available at the same price as today’s release.
