Newsletter – April 2018

By April 10, 2018Member updates

Welcome to the April 2018 Liv-ex newsletter
The wine trade, press and critics are currently in Bordeaux tasting the 2017 vintage, and the campaign is starting to pick up pace. Last week, Guiraud became the first major Chateau to release its 2017 vintage, and both James Suckling and James Molesworth published their scores online. As always, you can keep up-to-date with the latest releases and analysis on the Liv-ex Blog.

We will also be emailing out our annual En Primeur survey on your return from Bordeaux, and would love to know what you think. It should only take a couple of minutes to complete and always provides a fascinating insight into the nature of the vintage – please look out for it.

Bordeaux 2017 report released
Last week we released our special report, ‘Navigating Bordeaux 2017‘. Each year we produce an extended report on Bordeaux with the aim of providing market context ahead of the coming campaign. In this year’s report, we explore the current position of the Bordeaux market, the quality and quantity of the 2017 vintage and the importance of fair pricing. To download the report, click here.

En Primeur pages are now live
Our Bordeaux 2017 pages are now live on the Liv-ex Blog. Throughout the campaign, we’ll be posting analysis on all the key releases as usual. You can also compare critic scores, view key prices and follow the #bdx17 conversation on Twitter and Instagram.

Coming soon – En Primeur dashboard
We will also be launching our En Primeur dashboard in the next few weeks. The dashboard allows you to view real-time prices for 2017 wines as they are released and compare them to other vintages available in the market. For more information on the dashboard, please contact your Account Manager.

Liv-ex in the news
This month, Bloomberg published an article covering our latest Bordeaux report. This is Money explained how to invest in wine without breaking the bank and Glass of Bubbly reported on how to make the most of your wine investment. Meanwhile, Decanter explained what it means when wine prices are listed as ‘in bond’.

You can find the top fine wine market news stories on our press page, here.
