Brane Cantenac 2016 released

Brane Cantenac 2016 has been released at €51.60 per bottle ex-negociant, a 16% increase on the 2015 price of €44.50. It is being offered by UK merchants for £630 per 12×75, up 37% in sterling terms on the 2015 release of £460 per case.

James Suckling scored this year’s offering 95-96 points, noting that it was “one of the best ever.” Neal Martin was even more effusive in his praise for this year’s vintage, commenting that “the 2016 is a benchmark against which future vintages will be compared.” He awarded the wine a score of 96-98 points.

Although today’s opening price is the highest ever on release for Brane Cantenac, it might be justified given that it is entering the market with a higher quality score than all other recent vintages, yet at a price below 2005, 2009 and 2010.
