Beau Sejour Becot 2016 released

Beau Sejour Becot 2016 has been released at €50.4 per bottle ex-negociant, a 20% increase on the 2015 price of €42. It is being offered by UK merchants for £624 per 12×75, up 41.8% in sterling terms on the 2015 release of £440 per case.

Neal Martin scored this year’s offering 93-95 points, commenting that it “continues the upswing of Beau-Sejour-Becot.” Jane Anson also praised this year’s vintage, yet noted that there is “this slight austerity on the finish, a reminder that 2016 is not the right bank party we saw in 2015.”

This vintage of Beau Sejour Becot is entering the market benchmarked against four wines of equal score; below the 2005, at the same level of the 2009 and above the 2015. Given these benchmarks, today’s price looks hard to justify. Buyers looking for bottle age might turn their attention to the 2009, whilst those looking for value might be more interested in the 2015, which is available at a 26.4% discount to today’s release.
