Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 rises 0.4% in April

Liv-ex 100

After two months of dips, the Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 Index closed up 0.4% on March’s level, on 242.00. The Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 Index also rose, edging up 0.7% to close on 270.05.

While the month was dominated by talk of the Bordeaux 2014 campaign, there was less of a theme for the movers within the Liv-ex 100. However, it was a relatively good month for Bordeaux: the region’s trade share rose on last month and four of its wines appear at the top end of the movers’ table. With Robert Parker’s retrospective of the Bordeaux 2005s due at the end of June the vintage continues to be of strong interest, taking high levels of monthly trade, and in April both Palmer and Pavie 2005 saw good price rises.

The level of the Liv-ex Fine Wine 1000 – the broadest measure of the market – and its sub-indices will be published next week.
