Guigal 2009s in demand

By February 26, 2013Regions, Rhone

The Guigal 2009 “La Las” – La Mouline, La Landonne and La Turque – have recently been released. With the wines in high demand, a flurry of trade for the three has already pushed the Rhone’s share of trade by value in February close to 5%: a fourteen month high for the region, which took an average of 1.5% in 2012.

All three of the 2009s have been awarded perfect scores from critic Robert Parker, matching the achievement of wines from 1999, 2003 and 2005. Prices for the 2003 and 2005 vintages now average £5,000 per 12×75, while the 1999 is close to £6,000. Despite a strong start to its trading life, history suggests that the 2009 has some way yet to go.
