Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 Index hits new high

The Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 Index hit a new high of 345.46 yesterday, surpassing the level set at the height of the 2009 campaign in June. The index is up 0.54% month-on-month and has risen by 30% since we first started tracking the index in late February. 

As you can see from the daily index levels displayed in the graph below, the rapid price rises we saw for physical vintages during this year’s 2009 en primeur campaign slowed down significantly towards the end of July, when the start of the summer holidays saw trading taper off somewhat. Since the middle of August, however, the market has come back to life and prices appear to be on the rise once again.
