The number of perfect-scored 2005 Bordeaux increased from eight to nine today, following the release of the Wine Spectator score for St-Emilion's Pavie (it was not previously scored due to late shipping). Pavie 2005 is also in possession of a 98-100 score from Robert Parker, the tightest possible spread, and now looks set for a 'double-hundred' when the Wine Advocate releases its forthcoming Bordeaux report.
Wine Spectator's other 100-pointers from 2005 are Ausone, Evangile, Haut Brion, Lafleur, Latour, Leoville Las Cases, Margaux and Petrus. You can check the prices and trend data for any of these wines on the main Liv-ex website.
Will we now see the price of Pavie 2005 increase on the back of the perfect 100, as we saw with Evangile, Lafleur, Leoville Las Cases and Margaux (in particular) last month? As the graph below shows the Current Best List Price for a case of Pavie 2005 is currently £2,835. This is an increase of almost £1,000 since December 2007 and with the 2000 vintage (which also received a perfect score from Parker) currently trading at £2,500, the full 100-points already looks built into the price. But with demand for the best wines from the exceptional 2005 vintage still extremely high, the £3,000 a case barrier suddenly seems a possibility.
