    Junior Business Systems Analyst – Product Development Team

    We’re looking for an enthusiastic graduate with a keen interest in learning how to use technology to transform business. The role gives you the opportunity to develop skills in delivering technology products across a diverse range of business areas. You will be working in a fast-paced delivery team where your ability to translate commercial business requirements into technical specifications will be key. As a skilled communicator you will be working alongside a product manager, business analyst and members of the management team to define, test and deploy software solutions engineered by our offshore development team.

It operates a business to business electronic wine-trading platform, charging a commission on each transaction. At the same time Liv-ex is the reference for fine wine prices, valuations and other market data. Liv-ex also provides merchants with fulfilment, storage and transport services through its logistics business – Vine. The business offers its services from a web based platform and a family of APIs at www.liv-ex.com

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the business teams, understanding their processes, gathering business requirements and converting those requirements into technical deliverables.
    • Contribute to the on-going development by sharing knowledge, information and lessons learned on a regular basis.
    • Provide technical and functional support for business applications, resolving incidents, investigating and solving problems.
    • Conduct system testing, UAT with users and facilitate go-live of product development.

    Data Analyst

    With customers in 35 countries, Liv-ex is used by the vast majority of fine wine merchants around the world. Sales have grown rapidly to exceed £50m. Liv-ex’s growth has coincided with expansion of the internet and the development of the wine investment market.

    The role

    We’re looking for an enthusiastic graduate who wants to pursue a career in data. The role gives you the opportunity to develop skills in a number of areas including data insights, operations, product development or more widely across the business. There will also be the opportunity to learn about wine and how the wine market works. You will be an important member of a small data team, working alongside colleagues on the trading desk and product development team in the UK and a data processing team in India. The role combines regular activities and ad-hoc projects. Regular work includes the development and maintenance of business dashboards for KPI analysis and customer insight. Ad-hoc work can be related to our marketing and sales activity, customer requests and market research/ analysis.

    Key responsibilities

    • Development and maintenance of internal dashboards and KPI’s (Qlikview based)
    • Identification and correction of erroneous data points
    • Ownership and curation of the KPI reporting database
    • Development of new and management of existing business KPIs
    • Supporting the marketing team with data extraction and analysis
    • Responding to internal and external ad-hoc requests for analysis
    • Ensuring data quality is maintained
    • The Data Analyst will work in close cooperation with the Data Products Manager to ensure as much value as possible is being extracted from the data we curate.

    Skills and Experience

    Essential

    • A strong interest in the fine wine market
    • Good SQL/MySQL knowledge (writing queries to extract data and building databases)
    • Curiosity about how data can help you understand a market
    • A logical thought process and able to interpret requests
    • Good knowledge of MS Excel and Office in general
    • Educated to degree level
    • Highly fluent in English, both technical and conversational

    Desirable

    • ETL experience / skills
    • VBA skills for Excel and Access
    • Other qualifications related to wine or data
