Company Background

Liv-ex (The London International Vintners Exchange) was founded in 1999. It operates a business to business electronic wine-trading platform. At the same time Liv-ex is the reference for fine wine prices, valuations and other market data, including the Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 Index (the industry’s benchmark). Liv-ex also provides merchants with fulfilment, storage and transport services through its logistics business – Vine.

With customers in 35 countries, Liv-ex is used by the vast majority of fine wine merchants around the world. Sales have grown rapidly to exceed £50m. Liv-ex’s growth has coincided with expansion of the internet and the development of the Far East as a wine buying hub.



Business Analyst

A unique opportunity for a hands-on, commercially minded business analyst with proven experience of delivering products. The Business Analyst will work closely with the business teams to develop exciting new product features for the fine wine market.

The role

The Business Analyst will have responsibility for writing, managing and delivering technology solutions for the business. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced delivery team where your ability to translate business outcomes into technical specifications will be key. As a skilled communicator you will be working directly with business owners to define, test and deploy software solutions:

  • Liv-ex online trading exchange
  • Vine logistics and settlement system
  • Data distribution and transactional API’s
  • Cellar Watch consumer cellar tracking system
  • LWIN database of wine names and ids
  • Data cleaning applications
  • IS/ server infrastructure
  • MySQL database

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify, capture and qualify potential product enhancements sourced from users, internal stakeholders or competition/industry monitoring
  • Build crucial team relationships with business owners within Liv-ex and balance competing claims for development resources with offshore developers
  • Translate customer requirements into detailed business requirements documents
  • Test system enhancements to ensure that they meet the commercial requirements
  • Create and maintain up to date product documentation and requirement definitions
  • Defect management – managing the priorities and pipeline

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Experience of planning project work effectively (minimum 2-3 years).
  • Experience of writing high quality requirements specifications (minimum 3-4 years in a similar role).
  • Hands-on project delivery experience (requirements gathering, design, development and implementation) for a web based software.
  • Experience of managing the interface between functional and technical teams effectively: a natural ability to relate to and service customers both internal and external and to relate to both business people and developers.
  • Highly literate and excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Able to present fluently and confidently.
  • A collaborative approach when working with developers during the delivery of the solutions, answering queries and clarifying the business requirements and test case scenarios.
  • Ability to manage bugs/defects and understand the impact of issue to analyse appropriate solutions and development efforts, and prioritising these with business needs.
  • Demonstration of a passion for technology, innovation in web-based software and building great customer experiences
  • Strong commercial awareness, financially astute
  • Self-motivated with a high energy level
  • Highly organised with a strong command of detail
  • Flexible and able to work in a highly collaborative culture
  • Educated to a degree level in a technical subject (2:1/Russell Group preferred)

Desirable:

  • Experience working on a transactional Internet based product
  • Experience working with out-sourced development teams
  • Understanding of the different software development processes (2-3 years)
  • A good understanding of web technologies
  • Knowledge of the wine industry

Logistics Assistant


The role

The Logistics Assistant role offers an exciting opportunity as we look to change the way wine trading and logistics are carried out globally. You will be part of a small team and will be performing daily administrative logistics tasks, while being the first point of contact for our current Vine customers as well as for buyers and sellers on the Liv-ex fine wine exchange.

Responsibilities

  • Dealing with day-to-day customer queries
  • Resolving issues at our warehouses and general problem solving
  • Releasing wines for delivery, collection or export
  • Creating the relevant documents

Skills and Experience

  • High level of organisational skills and very good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • At least 1 year of experience working in an office environment
  • Very good problem solving and negotiation skills
  • An excellent communicator with proven customer service skills
  • A real desire to grow in a young company
  • Experience in Logistics or freight preferably in the wine trade (desirable)
  • Speak French (desirable)
