  • Yquem 2007 leads trade by value
  • Liv-ex indices in May
  • Liv-ex June Market Report released
  • A summary of this week’s Bordeaux 2018 releases

The beginning of the month saw Bordeaux gain trade share, as the region’s activity rose from 51% to almost 63%. The Liv-ex 50, which tracks the performance of the First Growths, dipped 0.05% on last week’s close.

While Champagne more than doubled its share by value – up from 4.5% to 9.5%, all other regions fell slightly. Italy was down from 13.8% to 4.4% and the USA – from 4.7% to 0.8%.

The most active wine this week was a Sauternes; Yquem 2007 last traded at £2,100 per 12×75, down 46% on its release price. It was followed by Krug 2004 and Mouton Rothschild 2016.

The 100-point Robert Parker Petrus 2010 also featured in the top five. The wine traded at a record high this week, a 38% premium on its release of £23,900 per case.

Meanwhile, the Liv-ex 100 closed May down 0.2%. The index has been on a downward trend since the beginning of the year. The Liv-ex 1000, the broadest measure of the market, however, was up 0.1% in May – its first monthly rise this year.
