Paul Bowker of Wilkinson Vintners has joined the Liv-ex Membership committee in place of the representative from Bibendum wines.
The Membership committee is a key part of the Liv-ex set up and has three main duties: to set the trading terms on the exchange, police the rules in the event of a dispute and to vet new members.
The committee consists of three members of Liv-ex – Directors James Miles and Justin Gibbs and Non Executive Chairman Nigel Johnson-Hill – alongside two independents from the trade. Currently the second trade representative is Johnny Goedhuis from Goedhuis & Co.
The committee has been successful at limiting Liv-ex membership to bona fide, reputable wine companies; ensuring the smooth operation of the exchange. Most importantly it has ensured that any disputes get settled sensibly.
